# What was inscribed is not a list of buildings and iconic places, but a HISTORIC URBAN LANDSCAPE as a whole. Each of its attributes, including intangibles, is important.

# PERIMETERS : only a part of the city’s historical urban landscape has been inscribed on the World Heritage List. There is a perimeter of the PROPERTY (core zone, 522 ha) and a perimeter of BUFFER ZONE (landscaped setting, 4243 ha).

# We are not talking about a “classification”, which corresponds to the French national protections (of monuments or sites). It is not a label either, but an INSCRIPTION on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

# The inscription commits the City of Nice, MANAGER of the site as well as the French Government, which becomes WARRANT and therefore closely monitors what is done to conserve and enhance each of the french UNESCO sites.
