Built on the bed of Mantega stream, the boulevard was traced through the De Orestis estate (1845). The property was afterwards purchased by Prince Stirbey, and the Dowager Empress Alexandra Feodorovna stayed in 1856-57, as well as the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux in 1875 and the Queen Isabella of Spain in 1882.
