Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791-1864), born Jakob Liebmann Beer, was a German composer of operas, like "Les Huguenots" and "Le Prophète". He spent the winter of 1858 at the Villa Dalmas (situated where the Hotel Westminster stands today). He composed a cantata for the Grand Duchess Stéphanie de Bade.
