The Opera

1885 - Architect : François Aune.
The first theater at this location dates from 1776 (the Maccarani Theater). The City purchased it in 1826 and rebuilt an Italian style theater. On the sea side, it opened onto a large bay window, walled up in 1866. An enormous fire destroyed the theater in 1881. The entrance located in rue Saint-François-de-Paule was initially in the rotunda on the east side, and then was moved to the centre of the facade in 1906.
Listed as a Historic Monument in 1992.
